St. Andrews 2000 Golf Club – Pattaya Golf Courses
Did you know that Pattaya merely is one of the best golf holiday destinations in the world? With over 20 courses within a 45-minute drive of Downtown Pattaya, this is the ultimate golf holiday destination in SE-Asia… maybe the world! One of the unique golf courses in the Pattaya is St. Andrews 2000, which takes the name of one of the most famous and the oldest golf course in the world – St Andrews in Scotland.
Did you know that Pattaya merely is one of the best golf holiday destinations in the world?
Designed by one of the most lauded golf architects in the world, Desmond Muirfield, in the year 2000, this Pattaya golf course enjoys uniquely undulated fairways and even 2x par-6 holes that have to be seen to be believed. Although the first St. Andrews in Scotland is a coastal links course, Muirfield did a great job capturing the essence of a Scottish style course in SE-Asia.
The course is located within the grounds of the Rayong Green Valley Club, which is a 40-minute drive outside Pattaya and also home to Silky Oaks GC. This is one of the most concentrated golfing terrains you will ever see.
This challenging 74-par course does not have the aforementioned undulating fairways but also has multiple tier greens, lots of water hazards and bunkers. This course is for the more experienced player or those who want to play a unique course like this. Although the course is pretty challenging for an 18-plus handicapper, with the large putting surfaces and split-elevation fairways, it is still a memorable experience.
Although St. Andrews 2000 will never match the original course in Scotland, if you are in the Pattaya region and want to try a different type of course that you will typically find in Asia, and want to sample what it’s like to play Scottish inspired links golf without the windy coastline, this course is the perfect choice.
